Disclaimer: They aren't mine. Never have been, never will be. Such a pity.
PWP. Poor water safety habits. Naked men.
What's May without a masturbation story? Rewatching season one and two episodes as they air on Sci-Fi has gotten me back into a Cade and Eddie kind of mood. Caly prodded, and I responded. Most cliché first line ever, but, hey, it's an unseasonably hot May day where I am, so bear with me. Title is that of a Gordon Downie song that opens with "It's too hot to sleep..."
The request: "FW - Eddie comes back to the trailer....was out for some reason, and there's cade, naked...jacking off..."
The Response:

Lofty Pines

It was too hot to sleep. Discomfort had won out over paranoia, and Eddie had opened every window in the trailer. After the first hour of tossing and turning, he'd even opened the door. Cade, unburdened by anxiety, had given up hours ago and gone outside to sleep in the hammock. Eddie envied his calm, but sleeping in the open air involved putting more trust in the world than he was willing to. For all he knew, there were bears out there.
He'd started out the night in an undershirt and boxers. The sweaty undershirt had been wadded up and thrown into a corner about an hour ago. His boxers were getting to be unbearably sticky, and he was seriously considering ditching those, too. It was his trailer, really, and Cade was sleeping outside. But there were lines that they just didn't cross, and the possibility of being found in the nude the next morning by Cade wasn't one Eddie was ready to face.
Eddie sighed. He was never going to get to sleep. He'd tried every trick he knew, from sheep-counting to visualizing himself in a nice, cool shower. Lying there, searching for a cool place on his pillow to put his face, he had another idea. They were camped out next to a small river. He might not want to sleep outside, but he had no objections at all to a swim. He unstuck himself from the bed and walked to the door. The moon had slipped behind the clouds, but his eyes were already adjusted to the darkness. He stepped outside and walked through the trees toward the lake.
Eddie was just about to step out onto the shoreline when the moon reappeared. He froze.
The trailer made for pretty close quarters, and they didn't split up as often as they used to. Alone time was something Cade didn't get much of. And even the Twice-Blessed Man has needs. Those were the thoughts that sped through the rational part of Eddie's mind as he watched, transfixed. The rest of his mind found itself peculiarly fascinated by the spectacle.
Cade, skin glistening with water, was sprawled on a blanket on the shore. His eyes were closed, his face fixed in an expression of intense concentration. One hand was twisted up in the blanket, and the other was at his groin, moving quickly over his erect penis. His hips undulated slowly.
Eddie felt a blush rising in his cheeks. He knew he should look away, but he just couldn't take his eyes off of Cade. He'd known that his friend had a great body, but he'd never really appreciated its perfection before. His gaze traced the planes of muscle and curves of flesh. He bit his lips and fought back a groan. He could lie to himself and try to believe that he was just watching over Cade, making sure he was safe from wild animals and aliens, or he could face facts. This was the hottest thing he had ever seen. He was watching because he wanted to.
Eddie couldn't remember the last time he'd wanted anyone so much. He knew that later on he'd have to think this through, figure out how he'd managed to live in denial for so long, averting his eyes a little too carefully when Cade changed clothes in his presence, touching him just a little more than was strictly necessary. Right now, he was too hard to think.
He stepped back quietly, slipping behind a tree where he still had a good view, but was mostly concealed from sight. Cade hadn't heard him approach, didn't know he was there, and he meant to keep it that way. He pushed his boxers down, leaned one hand against the tree for support, and started to stroke himself, trying to match his rhythm to the accelerating pace of Cade's hand and hips.
He heard a moan, and felt a jolt of fear hit him before he realized that it had come from Cade's lips rather than his. Cade's body shook, then stilled as he came. Eddie gasped and pushed his hand harder against the tree, the bark digging into his palm as he gritted his teeth and came hard. The effort it took to stay standing left him breathless. He allowed himself one last glance at Cade, who was now lying back on the blanket, limbs slack, chest heaving, and then he pulled up his boxers and headed back to the trailer as quickly and quietly as he could. He hadn't gotten his swim, and he definitely hadn't cured his insomnia, but at least now he had something to think about other than the heat.

Part II.
Eddie had one foot on the step into the trailer when he heard Cade's voice, steady and firm.
"Eddie."
Eddie paused, his heart hammering in his chest. "Yeah?" He turned around slowly.
Cade was standing there at the edge of the campsite. He'd pulled a pair of jeans on, hastily it seemed, because the top button wasn't even done. Which also told Eddie that he was staring just a little too hard at Cade's crotch. He forced his gaze up, but found that he couldn't meet Cade's eyes. Instead, he stared over his shoulder at the trees.
"Eddie?" Cade repeated, and it almost sounded like a question, like he didn't know what else to say.
Eddie opened his mouth, fully intending to make an excuse, stammer out something about how he hadn't seen anything, really, hadn't meant to interrupt, hadn't known, and oh, boy, had he ever not known... But what came out instead was, "Last one in the river is a rotten egg!" He stared off into space for a moment longer, just as stunned as Cade seemed to be by what he'd said. Then, once his words had sunk in, he decided that he might as well just go with it. Eddie started to run toward the water.
He hardly had time to hear Cade's footsteps on the path behind him before he was overtaken. And he laughed, because it was all so absurd and awkward and weirdly wonderful, all at the same time. He'd seen Cade jerking off, and he'd wanted him, and Cade had maybe seen him and maybe not, but had probably at least known he was there, and maybe that would make things strange later on, but right now they were running toward the river like they were kids at summer camp instead of two grown men on a mission to save the world.
Cade paused on the riverbank to strip off his jeans. Eddie saw just a flash of bare skin as Cade dove into the water. He hesitated, hands at the waistband of his boxers, as Cade surfaced. Water droplets flew from his hair and caught the moonlight as he shook his head and called out, "It's a little cold, but it's not too bad. Come on."
It occurred to Eddie that cold water would probably be a good thing, considering that his best friend and partner, who he had just discovered a heretofore repressed lust for, was buck naked and inviting him to join him in a little skinny-dipping. He dropped his boxers, took a deep breath, and dove in.
When he surfaced, he acquired two new pieces of information in quick succession. First, Cade was a liar. The water was absolutely freezing. Second, Cade had a decidedly predatory glint in his eye as he swam closer to Eddie's position.
"A 'little' cold?" Eddie said, treading water against the current. "This is more than a little. This is like those crazy guys who jump into icy lakes."
"What's the matter, Eddie? Can't handle it?" Cade's tone of voice lowered suggestively.
"I know *you* can," Eddie shot back without thinking. Then he blinked and began to tread water more vigorously.
Cade ducked under the surface, and Eddie looked around nervously, wondering where he was. He took a deep breath just in case a retaliatory dunk was coming up. Cade reappeared closer to the bank and got out of the water. "Come on," he called over his shoulder, "I thought you were cold."
"I was, I mean, I am," Eddie said, trying not to stare too hard at the way the water ran down Cade's body as he walked toward the blanket, which was still spread on the grass by the riverbank. The blanket, where Cade had been touching himself just a little while before, and where Cade now sat, looking up at the stars, waiting for him.
Eddie shivered and swam to the edge of the river. He squeezed his eyes shut and took a deep breath.
"Eddie," Cade said, his voice rough and teasing all at once, "are you going to get up here, or are you going to just stand there and watch again?"
Eddie was glad that he was in the shallows, or that question might have led to his death by drowning. He wasn't sure he could remember how to walk, much less swim. He knew he couldn't speak. But the sight of Cade in front of him, naked and waiting, that was enough to pull him forward on autopilot, out of the water and back into the air. After the cold of the river, the heat was bearable, soothing, almost. He walked toward the blanket with unsteady legs and stopped at its edge.
Cade held out a hand. Eddie took it, then sat down next to him. He squeezed Cade's hand nervously. "I couldn't sleep."
"I know," Cade said, leaning closer, "it's too hot."
And he was right. Eddie's skin now felt even hotter than before his swim, but this was a different kind of heat, one that he didn't mind at all. He leaned in, and his lips met Cade's.
Eddie's hands moved to Cade's shoulders as if of their own free will, pulling him closer as they lay down together. Cade's hands slid over Eddie's back, and any effects of the cold water had worn off entirely. They were both hard, their erections bumping against each other as their bodies shifted closer and closer together.
Cade pulled back just enough to speak, his lips almost still pressed against Eddie's mouth. "You were watching me."
"Yeah."
"And you liked it."
"Yeah."
They held each other tightly, pressing flesh against flesh as hard as they could, as much as they could. Eddie wanted to say everything, that he loved Cade, that he'd die for him, but he knew that he didn't have to say it. Cade already knew, and Eddie also knew that Cade felt the same way. They'd proved it to each other a hundred times over, these last couple of years.
When Cade's hand slid between their bodies, it was the most natural thing in the world for Eddie's hand to follow. They kissed, and their hands moved together, each to the other's erection. Eddie gasped and bit down gently on Cade's lip. It was so good. His hand on Cade, Cade's hand on him, both of them right there, their hands brushing together. Then Cade paused for a moment, shifted, and took Eddie's hand in his, putting their cocks together and wrapping their hands around them.
It was overwhelming. Cade's hand on his hand, Cade's cock against his cock, Cade's mouth against his mouth. He kissed Cade deeply, frantically, then softly. Then they stopped kissing entirely, and Eddie felt Cade's breathing against his cheek. Their orgasm was sudden and forceful, and Eddie couldn't tell which one of them started coming first, only that their hands were wet and their cocks were pulsing together and he knew things would never be the same.
"Last one into the water..." Cade said a little while later, smiling. They took another swim to clean up, then settled back down on the blanket. They curled together, kissed, and looked up at the stars, and Eddie finally slept.
The End.
