Edmund sat up in bed, silk pajamas and satin sheets surrounding him and his partner. "V wake up!" Edmund shook his lover awake.
Jack Vincenne woke up and groaned
"Someoneıs outside the house!"
"So....?"
"Do something!" Ed sulked .
"Maybe theyıll go away." Jack started to turn over and go back to sleep.
"Jack!"
" Come on Baby." One look and Jack knew Edmund was disappointed. After all Jack played Bogart to Edmund's Bacall. Jack threw the cashmere blanket off as the younger man looked up at him, embarrassed.
"I can't find my glasses." He whispered.
Jack smirked as he remembered why Exley couldn't find them. It had been quite a night. "Alright baby I'll take care of it."
He picked up his line and made a phone call. Soon they heard the sound of someone being pistol whipped along with a man's pleadings from the front yard.
"Stay in here." Vincenne warned, pointing a finger at Exley for emphasis.
He pulled on his custom made robe Exley got him the week before. Jack had to admit, the satin pajamas and gold plated lighter weren't bad either. Rich boys did have their advantages.
He reached in his robe pocket to get a cigarette and lit it on the way to the front door. Jack had to talk to Edmund about hiring a security service. Hell, they needed to definitely move to a better neighborhood.
He opened the door to see Bud White with a battered body slumped at his feet. Jack gave a disapproving look at the blood stains on the walk way. Someone would have to be called to clean up that mess.
"How much will it be this time?" He asked, blowing out cigarette smoke.
White shrugged and Jack gave him a fifty. The big man pocketed the money as he turned to leave.
"Oh Bud." White turned back towards the detective. "Could you please drop THIS off someplace else?"
Jack looked down at the body with the cigarette in his mouth, his hands still in his pockets. White grunted and went to throw the perp into the trunk of his car. Bud wasnıt the highest card in the deck, but he did have his uses.
"Is everything alright?" Ed asked as Jack returned to their bedroom.
Vincenne gave Ed a smile and a thumbs up sign, as he threw his robe to the foot of the bed. "Leave it all to the Big V sweetheart." They snuggled back under the covers their noses almost touching.
"Thank's Jack."
"It was nothing Baby."
